A vibrant, fruit-forward Ethiopian natural from Chelichele village in the renowned Gedeb district. Expect a bright, expressive cup with layered sweetness, delicate florals, and a silky body — all brought together by a clean, juicy finish. Only fully ripe cherries are hand-picked, meticulously sorted, and dried on traditional raised African beds for 15-17 days. Best enjoyed as a filter where its floral aromatics and fruit character really shine, though as an espresso it becomes richer and more syrupy with a rounded texture.

About the Producer

Produced by Alemayehu Abera in Chelichele village, Gedeb, southern Ethiopia. Grown between 2150 and 2210m under the shade of traditional false banana (Enset) trees — an agroforestry system that protects the coffee from intense sunlight and supports healthy soils. Alemayehu operates a small 1.8-hectare washing station with a permanent team alongside around 100 seasonal workers during harvest. Every stage of production is carefully managed, from selective picking through to the final drying on raised beds.

More About Berry Jam

Natural processing is one of the oldest and most traditional ways of preparing coffee — and one that produces some of the most flavourful, fruit-forward cups.

After harvesting, the whole coffee cherries are laid out to dry in the sun with the fruit still intact — nothing is removed. As the cherries slowly dry over several weeks, the sugars and flavours from the fruit seep into the coffee bean, adding sweetness, body, and vibrant fruit character to the final cup.

It is a slower, more hands-on process that requires constant monitoring — the cherries need to be regularly turned and checked to ensure even drying and prevent spoilage. When done well, the result is a coffee with rich, complex flavour, a full body, and a naturally sweet, fruit-forward character that you simply cannot get from other processing methods.
