From La Réunion to Herne Hill.

Macatia & Coffee started with a simple feeling.

After years of helping build other people’s dreams, we were ready to build something of our own. Something real. Something we could look back on and feel proud of. A space that feels warm, personal and full of life.

The name means a lot to us.

Macatia is a small sweet bun from La Réunion. Eliette’s dad used to bring them home as a treat. It’s simple, nostalgic and full of comfort. Choosing that name just felt right. It’s a nod to home, to memory and to those everyday rituals that stay with you.

That’s the spirit we wanted to bring here.

We’re building an expert coffee spot, but one that never feels intimidating. The coffee is thoughtful. The flavours have depth. But you don’t need to know all the terminology to enjoy it. You just need to like good coffee.

Serving an exceptional cup was non-negotiable from day one. That’s why working with Elsewhere felt like such a natural fit. For the past 18 months they’ve been a big part of our journey. We share the same values. Care about the same things. Quality, transparency and real respect for the people behind the beans, from farm to cup.

Everything here has layers. Some you taste straight away. Some you notice over time. That’s how we like it.

Mostly, we just want this to be a place where you feel good. Somewhere you can slow down. Meet someone. Sit on your own. Come back again.

We care about what we’re building.

And we’re really glad you’re here to be part of it.
