ABOUT THE BEANS
Night Rider Decaf proves that full flavour doesn’t need the caffeine. Grown at 1600–1850m in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, this lot combines coffees from Simbu Province and the Eastern Highlands. Limestone and volcanic soils bring balance and depth, resulting in a smooth, well-rounded cup that tastes like chocolate, caramel and pecan. Decaffeinated using the natural Sugarcane (EA) method, it delivers all the flavour without the buzz.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
This coffee is grown by various smallholder farmers across Papua New Guinea who have refined their craft over generations. Only the ripest cherries are hand-picked and sun-dried at origin, then carefully milled and sorted to maintain quality. The beans remain in the cool highland climate until export, preserving their character and ensuring a clean, consistent cup that reflects the region.
ABOUT THE ROASTER
This coffee is roasted by Elsewhere in Deptford, South East London. Since 2019, their small team has focused on sourcing vibrant, characterful coffees and roasting them to be approachable, balanced, and full of flavour.
More About Night Rider
The Sugarcane process is a natural method of removing caffeine using ethyl acetate, a compound derived from sugarcane. The green coffee beans are gently steamed to open their structure, then washed with ethyl acetate, which binds specifically to the caffeine and removes it while leaving most of the flavour compounds intact.
The beans are then steamed again to remove any remaining residue and dried before roasting. This method helps preserve sweetness, body, and origin character, resulting in a smooth, balanced cup without the caffeine.
